I have traveled all over this region, attending the "biggest" and "best" haunts you can find... Monster Mayhem blows them all away! I attended Mayhem two years ago, and was pretty impressed with the time and effort they put into it, so I wanted to check it out again, I wasn't let down. When I attend haunts, I often find myself paying so much attention to detail and crowd reaction that my enjoyment takes a backseat, Monster Mayhem made it impossible for me not to have a great time! Is Monster Mayhem scary? Yeah, it has some good moments. Is Monster Mayhem fun? YES YES YES! Laser tag with zombies and ghouls, how can you beat that‽ You can't! The story line is interesting, a security breach has taken place and the area has been taken over by ghoulish creatures! We were split into teams and the fun began. Our goal was to shoot the other team members more than they shoot you, simple right? Oh yeah, there are spooks hiding around every corner to throw you off your game! Run, shoot, jump, scream, repeat over and over! The play area is large, and there are plenty of spots to hide and attack. The actors are all very believable, and coupled with the thrill of the hunt, our hearts were pumping and adrenalin was at an all-time high! After about 20 minutes, our game was over, the scores were calculated (I did not win btw!) and we were taken to see the doctor for decontamination! We had such a great time we went in for a second game! After all was said and done, we walked out of Monster Mayhem sweaty and smiling! If you are looking to have a good scare coupled with an exhilarating, fun time, Monster Mayhem is the end all, be all!
Signage / Visibility / Location
Because I attended Monster Mayhem two years ago, I knew were it was located, had I not, I may have had a hard time finding it. I can't recall seeing a distinguishable sign at the entrance, which I think would help out a lot.
Wait Area / Line Entertainment
The waiting area is a pizza restaurant, not much you can do there. Actors can't roam and spook you. You can, however, enjoy a delicious pizza while you wait, so that's pretty awesome!
Actors' Performance
Top notch! They really sell it. Dedication seems to be job one with them!
Sets Scenes / Props / FX
Professional and impressive.
Length
Each game lasted roughly 20 minutes, long enough to work up a sweat!
Crowd Control
No issues
Most Memorable Moment
The whole thing!
Summary
My favorite haunt of the season! I plan on going one more time before they close!

This was genuinely one of the most unique haunts I have ever visited. It is completely different than last year and the concept is so interesting that we had a blast! The haunt concept: they put you right in the middle of a civilian training facility where they train you to kill the zombies and monsters that lurk on the levels below Paulo's Pizzeria. The most interesting? You actually play laser tag. They strap you into the suits and you get your instructions and off you go into the dark and scary twists and turns where monsters and zombies are around every corner. Although not entirely scary, it was so much fun that we really enjoyed it!!
Signage / Visibility / Location
Quite easy to find. Located in the basement of Paulo's Pizzeria. You have to go to the back of the restaurant to buy your tickets though, a little confusing with not much signage for the haunt.
Wait Area / Line Entertainment
We were there just before closing and there weren't any groups waiting before us, so we went right in. Not sure if you wait in the restaurant area if there is a line, but it doesn't seem like there's anywhere else to wait.
Actors' Performance
There were not a ton of actors in this haunt. Due to its setup and theme, they didn't need many. The actors who played the army general guy, the young girl zombie and the alien/dinosaur/monster-type thing... they were all excellent!!
Sets Scenes / Props / FX
Again, due to the theme and setup, they didn't require much, but what they had was pretty good. It took me at least 10 minutes of walking around until I realized I missed about half of the layout so I quickly walked through the rooms to make sure I took it all in - it's pretty massive.
Length
I would say that we waited maybe 5 minutes to go in and we were in the haunt for 20-25 minutes when all was said and done. A great length since so many other haunts are about half that. We really enjoyed how long it lasted.
Crowd Control
We were the last group in, so we didn't have to worry about anyone else. I'm not sure how they handle it when there's more people there, but I would guess that only one group goes in at a time. Fantastic.
Most Memorable Moment
A friend of mine and I were instructed by the army officer to push two buttons at the same time and of course failed to do so and we let the alien-like monster out of it's cage. Creepy! Also, the young girl zombie was excellent. Don't want to give away too much.
Summary
Definitely a must-see since it's such a unique concept. It's a lot of fun and good for all ages since it's not completely terrifying. The actors did a good job, but sometimes I was less concerned about them and much more concerned with laser-tagging the other team. Overall, a great time had by all!

Review
I can honestly say that though this is not one of the scarier haunts I have attended, it is certainly one of the funnest/most creative haunts I have been to and for that I did really enjoy the experience. It is a haunted attraction that both children and adults can enjoy. They have a different approach than the usual haunted house that adds a lot of fun and excitement to the experience by including everyone inside, actors and patrons!
Signage / Visibility / Location
It is located in the basement of Paulo's Pizza / Pub, and though there are some signs for the haunt, you will have a better chance of spotting it by the restaurant sign. Paulo's is on the corner of 51st and Howard.
Wait Area / Line Entertainment
Make a dinner date! They have great pizza you can order and enjoy while you wait, or for adults, you can order a few beers while you wait to enter the attraction!
Actors' Performance
I was a little disappointed by the lack of actors in the haunt at first, but the ones that are inside do a really great job of staying in character and encouraging you to introduce a little extra anarchy of your own to the others that lurk and roam inside this haunt. I found it very fun and a creative approach that you don't normally find in most haunted houses. Other than being spooked by the actors you get to spread the fear as well by taking part in scaring people!
Sets Scenes / Props / FX
They did a pretty decent job, it felt very industrial overall and I would have liked to see a little more diversity in the rooms. I did like the fact that you could explore any room you happened across openly.. made it feel a little more organic rather than being moved along room to room.
Length
It took me about 15 minutes to get through the haunt.
Crowd Control
It is well controlled for the most part, but you need to keep in mind that it is inside a pizza parlor/pub, so you definitely get an interesting mix of people, but the crowds we were with were respectful, as were the people already inside that were still exploring the haunt and trying to scare a few people. The monsters inside did a good job of encouraging others to move on if they were lingering a little too long.
Most Memorable Moment
I liked that I was able to play along with the actors and scare a few people myself, again, most haunts don't have this or allow it, so it was a fun change of pace.
Summary
I would encourage family's to attend this haunt if they are looking for something fun to do after a family dinner. The pizza was good and the haunt was a lot of fun, but not very scary. If your looking to be afraid and a more detailed and spooky atmosphere, this may not be the haunt for you. This feels more family friendly than other haunts.

Review
This year's Monster Mayhem is definitely unlike any other Halloween attraction I've ever attended. By far it was the most fun I've ever had at a haunt.
Taking participation to a whole new level Monster Mayhem not only allows you to roam freely through rooms and hallways it also allows you to hunt and be hunted by the creatures lurking around the maze of rooms. As a bonus, you can also go rogue on your fellow haunt goers and hunt them down as well. (...this practice is actually encouraged.)
Also unlike other haunts this attraction offers fun for all ages...kids, parents and grandparents alike. I must admit, I was a bit nervous when I entered with a group of 12 as in most cases this results in being crammed tightly into small rooms where you struggle to see the action. But this venue
accommodated our group easily and the large group size actually made the action even more enjoyable. I particularly enjoyed watching a spirited mother of several young kids hunt them down and then shoot them cold heartedly in the back....several times! (...she did later admit that she may have gotten a bit carried away.)
While Monster Mayhem may not be the scariest haunt you visit this year it will make a strong case for being the most fun haunted attraction you attend this year!
Signage / Visibility / Location
Located in the basement of Paulo's Pizza / Pub. There are signs for the haunt but they're not nearly as obvious as the signs for Paulo's. Located right on the corner of 51st and Howard you can't miss Paulo's....but you may miss the signs for Monster Mayhem.
Wait Area / Line Entertainment
Doesn't get much better than this! While you wait....order a pizza, have dinner, play a few games in the arcade or listen to music in the pub
Actors' Performance
Granted, there aren't a lot of actors involved with this year's Monster Mayhem but the ones you interact with do a superb job of getting you involved in the fun. I especially enjoyed the doctor...great job of adlibbing and if his accent wasn't real it certainly sounded like it.
Sets Scenes / Props / FX
These guys really have a keen eye for technology. If you're into techno props you'll enjoy the sets at Monster Mayhem.
Length
Beginning to end my adventure lasted about 15 minutes which included a little setup instructional time to get us operational.
Crowd Control
Given that the venue is at a Pizza Parlor / Pub the logistics of how the Haunt patrons mix with those from the Pizza Parlor Pub may be interesting....this is the fourth year I've visited this haunt and I've never experienced any crowd control concerns...I suspect that they've worked out any potential bottlenecks with the flow of traffic through the establishment.
Most Memorable Moment
Chasing monsters and then being chased by others...a very entertaining change of pace!
Summary
If you enjoy participating in your Halloween ventures you definitely need to checkout Monster Mayhem. I've seriously never had more fun at a haunt. Fun for all ages and for the who family!

Compared to previous years this haunt has definately gone downhill. All it is lazer tag with a story, them you are supposed to go out and shoot zombies (which I only saw one or two of) and each other. Which really does not make sense-because would not we all be on the same team against the zombies? The lazer tag guns are really senstive and hard to shoot.. The big "dino" monster they have walking around is cool.
Summary
Id skip it if i were you. glad i went when it was opening weekend and only paid 9.00. not worth full price.
