SyFy's 31 Days of Halloween will premiere on Monday, October 1 kicking off with the horror movie-themed “Countdown to 31 Days of Halloween” running September 23-30, and will conclude with a live Halloween episode of Face Off

From a mental hospital turned haunted house in Spring City, PA, to running for your life at the 5K Zombie Race in Darlington, MD, this special reveals some of the nation’s most extreme Halloween activities. But there’s more to the holiday than just ghosts and goblins, as viewers will get to experience a pumpkin racecar derby and underwater pumpkin-carving contests in Damariscotta, ME, and visit Highwood, IL – a town with so many lit jack-o-lanterns they may break a world record!

The 23rd annual "Treehouse of Horror," will travel back to ancient times when a Mayan Homer and Marge are witness to the prediction that 2012 will be the end of the world, the Springfield Subatomic Supercollider creates a black hole that terrorizes the city, a little unholy pact Marge when she was younger makes things go bump in the night and Bart travels to 1974 to buy a comic book at cover price but inadvertently disrupts Homer and Marge’s courtship.

Travel to Highwood, Illinois and Keene, New Hampshire as these two towns face-off in an attempt to win the Guinness World Record for “The Most Lit Jack-O-Lanterns In One Location.” In order to claim the title, one of these towns will need to carve a jaw dropping 32,000 pumpkins.
