Halloween Hodgepodge

Overview - The Haunted Barn

The Haunted Barn
Attended on Saturday, September 24

I've attended The Haunted Barn in the past and I'm always impressed at how much they improve every year.

Last year they added Beetlejuice as a character. He provides some great comic relief, and while he may not seem scary, he does a great job at surprise scares! As I got out of the car I saw some people running toward the parking lot screaming and Beetlejuice wasn't  far behind them. What a great way to start off the haunt season!

This year, two other characters stood out as well. They were a  pair of young ladies who looked like creepy twin dolls and had a haunting laugh. They taunted us a bit and lead us through the beginning of the haunt. Quite creepy!

Some new additions to the haunt this year included a unique squishy floor, burial simulator, surprise outhouse and a maze that twisted us around. I especially loved the two story facade and the girl looking for her cat. According to their Facebook page, they've made even more changes since our visit this year.

Word of caution: During our visit most of the stairs were well lit, but there were a couple that weren't and could be tripped on. We alerted them to this so this may no longer be an issue. Also, some of the ground on the trail is uneven and there are a couple of steep areas, so you may slide a bit when they're wet.

Overall, The Haunted Barn provided me with some scares, laughs and surprises,  I will definitely be returning next year to see what's new!
