LAKE COUNTRY PLAYHOUSE REVEALS A HAUNTED PAST

Hartland, WI, October 5, 2021 -- This fall, Lake Country Playhouse will host Haunted Theatre, a Halloween-themed experience revealing details of the theatre’s haunted past and taking patrons on a tour of its haunted spaces adorned with Halloween displays. The event will take place Oct. 28 - 30 from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m.

“Sometimes when you’re working late at the theater, you realize you’re not alone,” Jim Baker, creator and Haunted Theatre Designer says. Baker previews that the event will share experiences had by LCP actors as well as a brief history of the theater’s past as a Masonic Temple. Following the short retelling, patrons will be guided through a variety of themed Halloween displays, much like a haunted house.

This volunteer-led event seeks to help LCP rebuild its finances after a 15-month shut down due to COVID-19. Lead volunteers Sandra Renick (Producer), Nancy Hurd (Producer), James Baker (Haunted Theatre Designer), Sarah Jo Martens (Stage Director), and Breanne Brennan (Sound, Lights, and SpFX) hope to design an experience that brings fun to audiences and funds back into the theater. Proceeds from the $5 admission and welcomed additional donations will contribute to this cause.

Haunted Theatre will follow a number of COVID-friendly precautions to create a safe experience for volunteers and patrons alike. Group sizes will be limited to 10-15 people at a time, and the length of the experience is designed to last only 7-10 minutes to allow for safe social distancing. (As with most haunted houses, the experience will not involve any touch.)

Families are welcome, but the event is recommended for ages 8 and older. Baker says the theater is just happy to have patrons back in its doors, providing creative opportunities.

“We enjoy the creativity. We enjoy the little frights you get,” Baker says. “It’s going to be something that will be fun for both adults and kids.”
